Converting US Recipes For The UK

Wow check out this amazing recipe from Buns In My Oven (my absolute favourite food blog)!  If you love peanut butter you will love these Chocolate Peanut Butter Reese's Sandwich Cookies!

The only problem with this American recipe is trying to convert the recipe for us Brits, but I have found this conversion table from The Good Food Channel which should do the trick:

AMERICAN LIQUID MEASURES

1 cup US = 240ml
1 pint US = 480ml
1 quart US = 950ml

AMERICAN SOLID MEASURES

1 cup flour = 125g flour
1 cup butter = 225g butter
1 cup brown sugar = 170g brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar = 170g granulated sugar
1 cup icing sugar = 100g icing sugar
1 cup uncooked rice = 170g rice
1 cup chopped nuts = 100g chopped nuts
1 cup fresh breadcrumbs = 150g fresh breadcrumbs
1 cup sultanas = 140g sultanas

If you have 'cups' to measure the ingredients then of course you can use these. Apparently it shouldn't actually matter what size the cups are as long as you use the same 'cups' to measure all the ingredients for your recipe this way all the quantities will be relevant.

American TV - I Miss You!

I have been thinking a lot recently how much I have been missing my favourite TV shows from over the pond (sad I know but I love a bit of American telly). Some of these shows have started airing their new series in the states already but have yet to reach our British shores, it's just not fair!  So here are my absolute favourite American shows which I am pining for right now:

The Middle

The daily mishaps of a married woman and her semi-dysfunctional family and their attempts to survive life in general in the city of Orson, Indiana.

I think this is currently my best-loved TV show at the moment.  It is so funny and you should definitely check it out.

Nashville

A fading country music star comes into conflict with a rising teen star.

This show is so good, I love the music and the country style fashion - I'm hooked!

Greys Anatomy

A drama centred on the personal and professional lives of five surgical interns and their supervisors.

This has been a firm favourite of my hubby's and mine ever since we first found it on our Honeymoon in Mexico.  We had the TV on whilst getting ready one night and the first series of Grey's was on - We've been hooked for eight years!

Modern Family

Three different, but related families face trials and tribulations in their own uniquely comedic ways.

This is very funny indeed and very witty too.  If you like to have a good laugh at family goings on definitely try to catch up on this series.

So that's it, my TV round up...now please I'm begging the powers that be, just update us over in the UK!

Buns In My Oven

So its NaBloPoMo #6 and today you should take a trip to www.bunsinmyoven.com and visit a fellow blogger across the pond!

I love Karly's Blog, she is so funny and witty and her recipes are pretty indulgent too!  Obviously she is an american so the recipes are american and a little tricky to translate but putting this aside I find myself druelling at the mere thought of pretty much all of Karly's recipes on this blog!

I think its safe to say that none of these recipes are particularly kind on the waistline ;) but they do look like they taste fabulous!  Here are my top 3 recipes!

2) Creamy Baked Spaghetti

3) Buffalo Chicken Burgers

Please take a look at this fabulous Blog - I think you're going to love it!
